Together with the project developer CON-C and Heren 5 Architects a plan was created to redevelop 1.000 social housing units (high-rise) into an area with 1.200 mixed units. We choose an integral approach, sustainability, climate adaption, livability, participation all were essential parts.
This plan led to a better social mix, partly new build combined with sustainable renovation, the development of a green and livable area surrounding the housing units and the incorporation of components such as roof gardens, activity in the building plinths and participation projects. The main characteristic of this redevelopment was a stretched green area that connected the east and west existing green areas, using and improving a natural green elevated wal in the area.
With this the quality of the entire surrounding area was improved greatly.
Advies etc. was involved as a sustainability and participation/placemaking specialist. This plan was very well received by the client as well by the municipality.
